¡ NOTiCIR First Anniversary!

Dear CIR friends and collegues:

A year ago, in September 2004, we published the first issue of NOT i CIR. In the Editor’s note I wrote the following statement:

“When I took office as President of the CIR, I offered to foster a two-way communication.  That is, from the Board of Directors to the societies and their members and also from the societies to the board.

NOT i CIR begins today as a means of communication that will be sent by the web to the board of the National Societies, so that they can in turn send it to their members.“

After the appraisal of the first year, we can feel proud, first, for having a consistently punctual and regular edition with 12 consecutive issues.  We are happy that several of the National Societies have included NOT i CIR in their WEB pages and newsletters. .

A very fortunate initiative from doctor Matilde Buzzi, has been to get free registration for radiologists from other countries in exchange of announcements of courses and Conferences in NOTiCIR. Almost twenty radiologists have used this benefit in the last three months, thus expanding relations among our countries!

As of last monthe, NOTiCIR is a bilingual English-Spanish newsletter. I have no doubt that this will contribute to spread information of our activities internationally.

In order to grow, we need everyone to participate. I invite you to help forward  NOTiCIR among your colleagues, give constructive feedback and send interesting news to be reported.

CIR President Visits the Colombian Radiological Association

The Colombian Radiological Association celebrated the 60th anniversary of its foundation, in the city of Santa Fe de Bogotá,  last Saturday; July 2nd. To celebrate the occasion a Formal Session was organized. The guest  list included the CIR president, a group of outstanding radiologists and doctors of the country, the ACR Higher Board, and the board of the eight regional societies. Dr. Barona, an outstanding founding member, was among them, and he was honored by the attendants.

During his speech, Dr. Miguel E. Stoopen, conveyed greetings to our Colombian colleagues from the radiologists of the Continent and Spain and expressed good wishes for the continuing development of the ACR and their hard work to foster education in Colombia.

On Sunday morning, the CIR president had a two hour work meeting with the ACR president, Jairo Patiño-Pacheco, M.D., accompanied by the members of his executive board. Topics of mutual interest were discussed and proposals were issued for the joint development of our College and the Colombian Radiological Association.

The New Orleáns Tragedy

When this issue of NOT i CIR, was placed in the web, we started to get news from CIR friends and colleagues in the midst of the tragedy brought by the hurricane.  We already know that several of them are safe in neighboring cities.  We also know that others are trapped in their hospitals in terrible situations.  The members of the executive board of CIR will watch closely and we shall be ready to help in any way we can in these difficult circumstances.  All the CIR members have them on our minds and are willing to help.

Milestones

Norman Ignacio Koremblit was born in Buenos Aires on April 8, 1946 and passed on the 20th. of August, 2005 to take happiness to other worlds.

He trained in Argentina and the USA, but wherever he went, he was always eager to learn first and then to teach his experience with the quality of the chosen ones.  Norman gave more than 400 national and international lectures for our minds to enjoy as a gift.  He was a member of 29 national and international societies.  He participated in the editorial boards of several publications. He was professor at the University of Maimónides and he received many awards and honors.

Sunset gave way to night and the night brought uneasiness, but dawn brought back your light and joy to indicate one more time that we should keep on fighting for ideals, and not forget compassion, understanding, solidarity, self-improvement, effort and friendship.  May you rest in the peace of your God, we shall pray that it be so..
