CIR, Chicago and the RSNA
Yesterday and Today

The history of the CIR has been intimately connected to the city of Chicago and the RSNA. In fact, it was during the 5th International Congress of Radiology, celebrated in Chicago in 1937, when Dr. José A Saralegui of Argentina summoned a group of radiologists from several American countries, who agreed to participate in the first Inter American Radiology Congress in Buenos Aires in 1943 and who three years later founded the CIR.

Chicago became the city of the great annual meeting to bring radiologists up to date during the Annual Meeting of the RSNA. It has also become renowned as the most important international meeting point, where groups and societies meet and elaborate their different plans for the development of our speciality.

Every year in Chicago, the Board of Directors and the General Assembly of the CIR, consisting today of 25 associations, including RSNA, hold official working sessions and attend the meetings of different committees, as well as the activities of several International Radiology institutions. This is where many programs and educational activities  are originated. There is no doubt that the RSNA has had an enormous influence in the progress of radiology .

CIR, Chicago an the RSNA are connected for lifelong learning.

Today, like yesterday, we wait for you in Chicago !

More Information about the CIR Congress Program

The organizational and scientific coordination that has been established between the two societies -SERAM and CIR – will provide us with an extraordinary opportunity to learn  and improve the human and scientific links of radiology between Europe and America.

During the Congress we will be able to attend the Monographic Course whose topic this year is DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING IN INFECTION, the reading of Closed Cases Session, as well as the activities organized by the members of the committee, which will be structured in the Continuing Education Sessions, Updating Course, Scientific Debate, Practice Sessions and Oral Presentation of Scientific Papers.

On the first day of the Congress the Opening and Welcoming Session will take place, and on the last day the Closing Session as well as the Award Session and the Society’s General Assembly.

Each day  we will have the opportunity to attend Ultrasound Workshops which will be carried out as practical sessions  in rooms with limited capacity, so it will be necessary to enroll in the desired workshop when you register for the congress.

Given the impact of Information and Communication Technology in the present world of radiology we have considered it pertinent to continue with the Computer Room activities.

We will also have the opportunity to attend the Pre-Congress Course which will take place on Thursday, May 25. Changes that are taking place in Cardiac Imaging and the role of the radiologist in the study of the heart deserved to be the topic of this educational day in our National Congress.

The Technical Exhibition Area will allow us to get acquainted with technological innovations and to exchange opinions with other radiologists and business professionals about the issues that have such an important impact on our field.

The congress website will be the way  to keep in touch. All the activities will take place online: enrollment, registration and abstracts . The accepted scientific papers will be placed online in a new format that we hope will be useful and practical for everyone.

We would like to have a Congress that, with everyone’s participation, we will be able to remember scientifically, professionally and personally with pride and satisfaction.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Miguel E. Stoopen

400th Anniversary of Don Quijote

Outstanding collection of figures of the celebrated knight of La Mancha at the CIR offices!

Few were aware of it, but Dr. Jorge Bisteni Bustani, Director of B.P. Servimed and Manager of CIR, has amassed through the years an outstanding collection of figures representing Don Quijote de la Mancha, which are exhibited in cabinets, walls and shelves at his office in Mexico City.

Sculptures; porcelain, clay and metal figures; carvings on wood and stone, oil paintings and watercolors  compose a noteworthy and well-presented exhibit that is worth taking a look at.

The repertoire of this singular collection inspired by Cervantes currently consists of 202 pieces and is doubltess the most important in Mexico and perhaps in America. The members of CIR who wish to see it can contact Dr. Bisteni directly at the CIR office: cir.admin@servimed.com.mx
