Last Tuesday, November 29th,
during the RSNA Congress, many presidents and Advisors of the National
Groups that make up the Interamerican College of Radiology met together to
hold our traditional Ordinary Yearly Assembly.
Doctors Miguel E. Stoopen, Pablo R. Ros, Francisco Quiroz y Ferrari and
Ricardo García- Mónaco chaired the meeting that covered a large agenda,
with the participation of several coordinators and members of the
College Commissions that have witnessed the growing activities in this
corporation during the last months.
Some
of the most relevant points were:
1.
The creation of the Electronic Education Department through
which CIR will be responsible of providing support to the
www.radiologiavirtual.org portal, that shall work permanently from now
on. Every two years the CIR Virtual Congress will be organized,
alternating with the traditional congresses.
2.
The CIR Education Commission sent 16 visiting professors to assist in 6
courses and Congresses held in Tucuman (ARG), San Juan (PR), Panama (PAN),
Cuenca (ECU) and La Paz, (BOL).
Likewise, the Commission created a Registry where personal data and
lectures of 46 CIR Professors who are going to give the following Courses
are included. Also, a Registry of Radiology Departments where radiologists
can train in different curricula has been started and soon will be
available in the web.

Francisco Quiroz y Ferrari, M.D., President of the Scientific Committee
of the XXIII Interamerican Congress of Radiology, gave the
attendees information about the Education program that has been organized
with the participation of 31 professors of the American Continent and also
reported that a hundred oral and electronic presentations are now in the
final stage of their evaluation.

In his turn, Doctor Luis Donoso Bach, President of SERAM informed about
the advances in the organization of the Interamerican Congress of
Radiology and once again invited every radiologist in the American
Continent to attend the Conference in Zaragoza from May 26 to 29, 2006.

The Brazilian representation headed by their brand new President, Doctor
Fernando Alves-Moreira and their Advisor and former Aldemir Humberto
Soares, confirmed the venue in Brazil for the Interamerican Congress of
Radiology that will be held in 2008.

Another matter of great interest was the proposal from Colombia to review
and update some points of the CIR Bylaws and about which the details were
informed by Julián Sánchez-Cortazar, M.D, member of the Bylaws and Ethics
Commission, to whom doctor Stoopen asked to coordinate their review and to
report next January on the origin of the proposals.
7. Finally, Jorge
Bisteni - Bustani, M.D., CIR Manager, reported on the structure of the
NOTiCIR e-bulletin of which 14 issues have been Published, the last
three in English and Spanish.
He also reported on advances in the reconstruction of the new WEB Page of
the College, whose editor, Francisco Arredondo, M.D. gave the details to
the Assembly.
